History of ABI

The Amoskeag Business Incubator was started in 1997 as a joint venture between Southern New Hampshire University and the City of Manchester, NH. The Incubator was managed as a program under the University and provided seed funding by the City.

The Incubator secured a seven year lease at 670 North Commercial Street.  At the end of the lease term in January 2004, the Incubator was awarded a $1 million grant under the Community Development Finance Authority's Tax Credit Program to retrofit its current space at 33 South Commercial Street into 36 offices and shared common space.

In September of 2005, the Incubator became its own 501c3 non profit corporation and under a management contract, the Incubator continues to be managed by Southern NH University.
